A bit about Sir Ian McKellen's One-Man Show

Here are some articles and anecdotes about the fundraising show Ian McKellen is currently doing in New Zealand.  Wish I were there!

I think I'll let the matter rest after the latest interview in The Hollywood Reporter.

Jackson assures the The Hobbit will look "organic" and "otherworldly"

Here's a few possible contenders for the original owner of Thorin's sword.

- Collider interview with Luke Evans (Bard the Bowman) about the joy of filming The Hobbit, and watching footage at 48 fps.
- Information from The Hollywood Reporter about what type of equipment it will take to convert theaters to the 48 frames per second format by December.
- A fan meets Billy Connolly (Dain Ironfoot) in New Zealand over Easter, from the Wairarapa Times-Age: "Comic tale to last lifetime."
- Hobbit cast attends the First Olympic Street Party in the World.  Picture of Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Adam Brown (Ori), and Graham McTavish (Dwalin). Also a brief interview with Ian about the Olympics, in the NZHerald.
- New drawing of Thorin by Joane (jos2507 on deviantART).

Quick note on how the look of 3D should be improved at 48 fps!

News: The Hobbit Movie Weapon Replicas

I've gathered some information about what we can expect in terms of replicas from United Cutlery.  Check out this post for more details.
It stands to reason that everyone with a speaking part in The Hobbit is going to be a damn sight more famous by next year. But as for who will come out on top of the golden pile, Larry D. Curtis' money is on Richard Armitage, and here's why....

"In terms of skyrocketing career moves, Armitage will be the ultimate winner. Thorin will be a more important part of this film than many realize and the Shakespearian tragedy elements, with his talent and good looks, make this a perfect situation for him."

Read more about the up-and-comers in the cast including Aidan Turner, Dean O' Gorman, Luke Evans, Martin Freeman, and Benedict Cumberbatch in Curtis' article at NextMovie.com.
Just a quick bit of news in the New Zealand Herald from "a source close to Connolly" about costuming Dain Ironfoot. Yeah, I know, it ain't much, but what do you want in this information drought??
The journey finally gets underway in the fourth part. Now that Freryn is rolling in the dough, it's time to go!
